Freedmen Heirs Foundation
Freedmen Heirs Foundation is working to empower Black farmers to build generational wealth by increasing market access, providing technical support, and strengthening financial resilience.
Through our Legacy Initiative, we support comprehensive wealth-building for farmers and their heirs through a four-pronged approach. This includes strengthening the financial capability of current generations, expanding market access to help farmers build prosperous businesses, supporting retirement preparedness, and equipping the next generation through college financial planning. Together, these strategies aim to ensure that farming remains a viable and rewarding path across generations.
By addressing the unique financial needs at each stage of life, we help farmers protect and preserve their family, community, and farm legacies. Our goal is to create lasting economic security that empowers Black farming families to thrive now and into the future.
Funding Purpose:
Funds are used to engage Black farmers and small businesses in building stronger financial health; to develop an internship program that connects farmers with bookkeeping and technical assistance; and to create a mutual support network of Black-led agricultural nonprofits working together to uplift and sustain farming communities.
