CSU Chico Center for Regenerative Agriculture
Our vision and mission are to lead the way in advancing regenerative agriculture through research, education and collaboration, empowering communities worldwide to cultivate healthy soils, enhance biodiversity and ensure food security for generations to come.
The Center is conducting cutting-edge research to fill the gaps in scientific knowledge in regenerative agriculture; creating innovative professional training programs, as well as formal education programs, that will help to ensure tomorrow’s workforce is well-prepared for the climate-related challenges that significantly impact the agriculture industry; and leading the way in on-farm transition to regenerative agriculture production systems by providing incentives, technical assistance and community. Our major projects include:
• The Soil Carbon Accrual Project (SCAP)
• The California Land Use Index for Resiliency
• The North Valley Food Hub
• The Regional Conservation Partnerships Program (RCPP).
• Technical Assistance Provider (TAP) Training Program.
Additionally, we are supporting faculty to secure and administer research grants through USDA agencies and the CSU Agriculture Research Institute (ARI), interacting with a broad range of stakeholders through conferences, workshops, field days presentations, and representation on working groups and committees with similar aims.
Funding purpose: Support the transition of farms and ranches to regenerative systems. This year, funds will be used to support expansion of the Technical Service Provider (TSP) Training Program, development of the Soil Carbon Accrual Project, and early planning and development of academic programs in regenerative agriculture.
