California Farmer Justice Collaborative

The California Farmer Justice Collaborative (CFJC) was founded in 2017 by a group of farmers and advocates that came together in a grassroots effort to pass the Farmer Equity Act (AB 1348). As the only organization in California advocating for civil rights in agriculture that is led and governed by farmers and land stewards of color, our work to continue fighting for an equitable and just food system continues in the present day.

Our mission is to serve as a resource hub that:

  • Advocates for farmers of color to directly participate in – and lead – the building of a fair food and farming system

  • Grows our collective representation

  • Provides direct financial support through our Farmer Justice Microgrant program

  • Sustains traditional agricultural knowledge through relevant technical assistance and skill building

  • Connects California farmers of color with all allies and opportunities – political and beyond.
