Sustainable Economies Law Center (SELC)
“Sustainable Economies Law Center cultivates a new legal landscape that supports community resilience and grassroots economic empowerment. We provide essential legal tools – education, research, advice, and advocacy – so communities everywhere can develop their own sustainable sources of food, housing, energy, jobs, and other vital aspects of a thriving community. ”
Funding purpose: The Law Center crafts legal, financial, and governance structures to support a more democratic economy, allowing farmers and land stewards to have greater sovereignty over how they work with and manage land. Funds are used to sustain long-term client relationships, provide culturally relevant legal services, develop unique educational materials, and coordinate peer communities to bolster capacity for those BIPOC land stewards transforming the food and farm system.
