People’s Food and Farm Project
The People’s Food and Farm Project seeks to address the fractures and inequities in the Bay Area food system by building a vision for what a socially just, environmentally sustainable, and economically thriving food system that centers the voices, dreams, and wisdom of workers and BIPOC communities.
Funding purpose: Support the community organizing necessary to form an innovative Special District for Food Sovereignty in the Bay Area. Similar regional agencies have been created for other resource needs – water, transportation, housing, etc. – generating over $500 million through voter-approved special taxes established by local ballot measures.
