The CSU, Chico Regenerative Agriculture Initiative (RAI) was created in 2016 to promote regenerative farming practices capable of enhancing and restoring soil health, increasing the economic viability and sustainability of farms/ranches, addressing food insecurity, and drawing down legacy greenhouse gases.
The Center’s primary purpose is to transition regional farms/ranches to regenerative practices through on-farm demonstration sites, peer-to-peer training, farmer-centered research, and educational and outreach programs that engage and benefit current and future agriculturalists—and society as a whole. The Center promotes healthy and sustainable food systems from the soil up, positioning regenerative agriculture as the solution to growing yields with fewer inputs, reducing reliance on costly chemicals that deplete soil health.
